The 2010 program provides space in which an "emerging" artist in fine arts or crafts can expand the parameters of their chosen medium, explore new directions in their work and enhance their creative vision, and at the same time advance FVAC's goal of educating the public through seeing and participating in the hands-on creation of art. FVAC defines an "emerging" artist as someone who has created a promising body of work and is dedicated to their art, but is not yet recognized by educational institutions, galleries, collectors, and critics. Furthermore, the artist must be in "need" of space to work and create.

Artists will be selected based on the quality of their work, the goal(s) they expect to accomplish through their Residency, their interest in working at FVAC and making a difference in the Farmington Valley's vibrant cultural community. In addition to studio space, the Artist in Residence may have access to a wide variety of resources and opportunities, including teaching opportunities at the Center and at other schools and organizations, representation in the Arts Center's sales gallery and collaborative opportunities with other artists and organizations. The Artist in Residence will join the FVAC community of Studio Artists in Avon, Connecticut.

Applications due June 30, 2010 for Jury selection.
